Non-declaration of assets : Justice Ngwuta arraigned, pleads not guilty

Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta has been arraigned before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

Ngwuta was arraigned on an eight-count charge over allegations bordering on false and non-declaration of assets as a public officer.

He was also accused of engaging in private business as a public officer and was alleged to be trading in rice, palm oil and other products while serving as a justice of the apex court.

Justice Sylvester Ngwuta pleaded not guilty to all the counts.

According to the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, Justice Ngwuta contravened section 15 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, which is punishable under section 23 of the Act.

The Chairman of the CCT, Justice Danladi Umar, adjourned the matter for hearing until July 12, 2017.
